The 1st assignment for Intelligent Systems (IS)

 

1)     Write a short tutorial and a non-trivial application that would demonstrate the use of threads in JESS, for example for building a client-server application. The server should be written in JESS and would launch a thread for each new client that connects. (4-5 students) (available)

2)     Write a short tutorial and a non-trivial application that would demonstrate the use of GUIs (Graphical User Interfaces) in JESS, documenting the mechanism of event and error handling also. (4-5 students) (available)

3)     Jess application for the Web (chapter 17-19 from the book Jess in Action). Write a tutorial and a non-trivial application. Since the sources of the example in the book are available, it must extend or implement extra features (5-6 students). (available)

4)     Jess and XML (reference chapter 20 from the book Jess in Action). Write a tutorial and a non-trivial application. (4-5 students). (available)

5)     A RMI-based rule server (reference chapter 21 from the book Jess in Action). Write a tutorial and a non-trivial application. (4-5 students). (available)

6)     Integration of Jess with Protégé (reference http://www.ida.liu.se/~her/JessTab/JessTab.pdf). Create a non-trivial application and documentation (5-6 students). (available).

Eventually for the students that are not included in any of the existing groups and want to form a new group, I will create 1-2 new themes.

Completion date for the 1st assignment is week 7, when you will present them at the lecture  (eventually also during the consultations between 16:20-17:50)

The second assignment will be completed and presented in week 8, again at the lecture + lab. The list of themes for this assignment is in the file Assignments2.htm, the themes are based on JADE.
