• Monday, 19.10.2026 – Focus: Evidence-grounded frameworks that reasons over reference documents to generate trustworthy clinical reports

  Special Guest: Prof. Dr. Momina Moetesum, HoD Software Engineering at the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Pakistan. To advance EEG data reporting in clinical neurophysiology, this presentations introduces an agentic framework that automates the interpretation and report generation of electroencephalography (EEG) recordings while prioritizing explainability. By extracting explicit signal features such as rhythm metrics, frequency, and amplitude directly from raw EEG data and systematically reasoning over reference documents, the proposed system produces trustworthy and verifiable clinical reports that clinicians can rely on.

• Monday, 08.06.2026 – Focus: Explainable by Design: Fusing Fuzzy Logic and Knowledge Graphs for Transparent Student Modeling

  Special Guest: Prof. Dr. Christos Troussas, University of West Attica, Athens, Greece. This framework targets the "black-box" dilemma in Artificial Intelligence for Education (AIEd). It shifts AI tutoring from merely tracking what a student knows to clearly illustrating why the system makes specific educational decisions.

• Monday, 27.04.2026 – Focus: From local to global explanations with propositional rules

  Special Guest: Prof. Dr. Guido Bologna, University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland. Deep connectionist models are characterized by many neurons grouped together in many successive layers. As a result, their data classifications are difficult to understand. This talk presented two algorithms which explain the responses of several black-box machine learning models. The first is Fidex, which is local and thus applied to a single sample.   Special Guest: Prof. Dr. Mario Figueiredo, University of Lisbon. The central challenge, is learning cause-and-effect from purely observational data. In this talk, after briefly surveying the field, this talk discusses recent advances in this area, focusing on the fundamental problem of distinguishing cause from effect.
