04.01.2024 We started the year strong, with a new paper in our series of AI in medicine, about a Method of Improving the Management of Cancer Risk Groups by Coupling a Features-Attention Mechanism to a Deep Neural Network, co-authored by D Onchis, F Costi, C Istin, CC Secasan, GV Cozma.

09.11.2023 Darian Onchis was invited to give a presentation about Adaptive bias correction for Class Incremental Learning at the NANMAT2023 conference, organized by Tiberiu Popoviciu Institute of Numerical Analysis (Romanian Academy). The conference aims to invite Romanian scientists worldwide.

27.04.2023 We have presented the implementation of the UNITA Alliance Virtual Campus at the Connected-Campuses workshop in Pau, France, held during the UNITA Days event. The campus will be serving a large community of academics and students from 6 European universities and it will be extended in the fall to 12 European universities.

11.04.2023 Darian Onchis has been invited to give a presentation at the workshop Trust-AI Human-centered approaches for trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, organized as part of the Smart Diaspora 2023 event, under the high patronage of the President of Romania

23.03.2023 We just defined a novel cognitive neuro-symbolic deep learning architecture. The hybrid model allows intrinsic explainability through the embeddings of symbolic reasoning into a convolutional neural network and it has the advantages of better avoiding overfitting while also speeding up the training cycle. 26.10.2022 The paper Advantages of a neuro-symbolic solution for monitoring IT infrastructures alerts, presented at SYNASC 2022 has been accepted for publication in the conference post-proceedings edited by IEEE.

06.07.2022 Keynote Speaker at the national conference Tehnology and IHealth in the XXI Century Medicine, AI & Bioinformatics Section.

16.05.2022 Succesfully defended the SECOND habilitation (after the first one, exactly 8 years ago at the Aix-Marseille University). This time in computer science. Now I can advise PhD students in both computers science and mathematics !

24.11.2021 Invited panelist at the ROUNDTABLE: NATIONAL AI STRATEGY, held during the ROMANIAN AI DAYS

05.10.2021 In a collaboration with the CEA LIST laboratory, the paper on Dataset Knowledge Transfer for Class-Incremental Learning without Memory, has been accepted at the rank A conference WACV2022, in the Algorithms section. WACV is the premier international computer vision event comprising the main conference and several co-located workshops and tutorials.

12.04.2021 The AI research hub TRAIN, Timisoara Research in Artificial Intelligence Network and the XAION, Explainable Artificial Intelligence Competition platform, have been publicly launched, with the support of the UVT Rector professor Marilen Gabriel Pirtea and in the presence of the local media and the two renown AI professors, Bernhard Schölkopf director at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and Pedro Real from the University of Seville. Darian Onchis is the project coordinator for this AI initiative.

02.04.2021 Darian Onchis has been selected as IT Engineer for the EU consortium UNITA, made of six universities from Portugal (Covilhã), Spain (Zaragoza), France (Pau and Chambery), Italy (Torino) and Romania (UVT). He will coordinate the software implementation of the future UNITA Intelligent Virtual Campus .

21.11.2020 The paper "Stable and explainable deep learning damage prediction for prismatic cantilever steel beam", authors Darian Onchis and Gilbert-Rainer Gillich has been accepted for publication in the Elsevier journal Computers in Industry, (Impact Factor: 3.954, Q1 red zone).

18.03.2020 SIMT group launches XAIES the first platform for Explainable Artificial Intelligence Expert Systems competitions, developed from scratch with our enthusiastic students. You need to login to create new XAI competition or to submit your explainable results to our proposed use-cases.
